Work being undertaken on behalf of KIDSTEM:

Optimise a protocol for isolating the metanephric mesenchyme (MM) from mouse embryo (E11.5), and culture conditions that support MM expansion;

Optimize kidney rudiments transplantation procedure;

Compare the developmental potential of Kidney Stem Cells (KSC) and MM cells following transplantation into mouse kidney rudiments;

Compare the gene expression profile of KSC and MM cells.

Previous Experience:

 

University of Pavia : Bachelors Degree in Biotechnology (Oct 2004).

Project title: Expression of Low Molecular Weight Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases, LMW-PTP, in human platelets.

University of Pavia : Master Degree in Industrial Biotechnology (July 2006).

Project title: Expression of pro-apoptotic genes ( Bax , N-Bak ) and anti-apoptotic genes ( Bcl-2 , Bcl-X L , Survivin ) in mouse preimplantation embryos obtained from In vitro fertilisation (IVF) and from Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT).
